What does the writer do?
The writer is commissioned to write for a film or TV show. This is their responsibility to be creative and come up with new ideas which might hopefully grab the attentions of producers and directors to get their production in the making.
In the beginning stages of a production the writer is responsible for generating new ideas, storylines and plots. The writers also have the responsibility for staying creative and to keep writing stories that will appeal to the target audience.
Although script editors have the responsibility to edit scripts the writer's can also choose to do this with their own scripts. It is easier for them to edit their own work to how they want because at the end of the day they know what and how they want their visuals to be perceived and they can picture exactly what they want to see in their programme or film.
Overall writers play an important role throughout the commissioning process. The writers start off the production because without a story or script nothing else will be able to happen.
