Finance :The finance is the most important element of a production because without it the film or show cannot be made as no money would be funded towards it. Most productions have a finance department who deals with all the production money. Finance is important because you have to keep track of your money during the production. For example keeping a budget is a great way of controlling how much you are spending, making sure you don't spend over the agreed amount and keeping a record of what the money is being spent on.
Materials (Copyright) : When using materials in a production it is essential that you don’t use copyrighted material such as songs, pictures and videos unless you have permission from the owner of the content. Using copyrighted materials without permission is illegal. Instead of using copyrighted material you can always create your own or use royalty free material which is free. If you have permission for using copyrighted materials the owner of the content may ask to be credited in the production and may ask to be paid also.
Personnel :The personnel are your crew. Everyone should be given roles/jobs when doing a production. For example, Camera Operator, Director and producer etc. It is important that everyone knows what jobs they are doing as it makes the production easier and more organised.
Codes of Practice :
Time: When filming a production time is pretty much essential, mainly because it will help the rest of the production fall into place. Generally time is your schedule, it allows you to keep on track as to when you're filming and what particular time each individual needs to be at that certain place. It allows everyone to know how long roughly a production is going to be and how much time they should allow for it. If only one person messes up the time schedule, it could potentially make a huge impact on the rest of the production. For example there could be a scene which involves three characters having a conversation, if only one of those characters is missing and not there at the right time the scene quite possibly just can’t go ahead. Time is a massive part of a production, most importantly if you're working for a professional production company and you're not turning up on time it can be a huge issue and you could face serious consequences, such as being fired. It’s the small things like time during production which can cause bigger problems, which can let down not just yourself but your fellow colleagues.
Locations: Locations when filming are important because like with time it gets the crew and cast organised, as to where they’ll be shooting particular scenes etc. When it comes to filming a particular shot it’s importing to do things such a location recces, as you'll have an idea before hand whether that place you had in mind will be appropriate enough. This then saves times knowing that you're happy with the location and you wont have to make an drastic changes on the day. It’s handy to put some proper thought into where you want to film, because it can make the atmosphere and mood a lot more relatable to the impact you want to have on the audience. It’s generally just making sure you pick the most appropriate locations, so they match the current situation as well as possible.
Facilities: The biggest facilities needed during production would include things such as catering, accommodation etc. Obviously accommodation needs to be sorted out quite a bit before hand, to ensure the cast and crew members will have somewhere to stay during filming. Especially if the production is set abroad or the other side of the country, everyone needs to put up somewhere to avoid any inconvenience or issues. As well with catering, filming is a long process and the majority of the time will take up most of the day. It’s an even bigger issue if filming is taking place somewhere such as a wooded area where there isn't a town handy nearby. So having food available for the involved team on set prevents wasting anytime which is needed, it keeps all the cast and crew close so they’re able to get started with filming as soon as possible
